THE JOY OF HAVING TWO (or more) PUPPIES

The first email is from a couple in West Palm that got a boy and a girl from us.

The second email is from someone in NC that got a Maltese from us that is 4 years old and weighs four pounds and also a puppy from the litter pictured in the boot. They are so glad that they got two babies.

The third couple in Al bought one little boy and then got another little boy from us. At the time, they had two older Maltese

The forth is from a couple in GA that got an older boy and a puppy. Since they got their two Maltese, they have come back and gotten a third tiny boy!

The fifth email is from a couple in FL that got their little boy from us and begged is to breed again so that they could get a little girl. We had all boys and only one girl. By that time, we were such good friends with Amy and Chip that we had to let them have our little show girl.

Phyllis,
I wanted to let you know about Lily and Bentley. They are perfect. We decided on two for a few reasons.
First, I did not want to attempt to duplicate Ivory. I knew that with two the dynamic would be different.
The second and third reasons are related to Gidget. We wanted to make sure that is she felt like playingshe could or if she wanted to do her own thing that was okay too. We knew also that the new additions would outlive her and we did not want the new puppy to
be as distraught as Gidget was when Ivory passed away. The best reason is one we had not expected. Not only does Gidget adore them, as do we, they adore each other. They are so happy to have each other. They have the best time together and have never seemed to notice that they left the litter. They are so much
fun to watch, the way they antagonize each other and rough house. Gidget plays with them but in her own way. They have their own language of play and are such a comfort to each other. Knowing what I know now, I will always get two from the same breeder together. They are so great together. They helped each other with potty training. Their game playing nature with each other helps them to both eat their meals. They are just so...perfect. I can't imagine
being without either one of them. So to anyone who ask if two is more work, I say no. Maybe more bathing and grooming but not anything else because they have each other and really have such a ball that when they are tired they are out like little lights. They are
never bored or lonely when we are not home and that isthe greatest comfort of all.
We are eternally grateful to you and Joe for our two little angels.
Thank you the world over, love Aimee and Michael

Subject: Update on the babies

Hello Phyllis,

Coquito had his surgery May 27th. I picked him up on Friday; . Well, he was jumping, barking, wagging his tail, and like nothing has happened. . I had a terrible time trying to keep him from running, jumping, and playing rough on the first week. He didn’t even notice that they did the clipping. On Thursday I have his check up.

Now, I’m having a hard time bringing Gigio inside from playing, too. That little devil is loving more and more (just like his brother) his backyard. Though, now that’s warming up, they get hot and enter faster. Of course, I’m with them all the time, and as soon as I see them getting tired and call them and they come in. They love to be taken for rides in the car (in their car seat), and the surprise is that Gigio is the one that enjoys them the most. He hated when we had to put the harness in him, he would fight it with all his strength; now, he knows that harness time equals ride in the car time. And when he sees, either Alberto or me, picking the harnesses up, he will jump out of his day bed and will come wagging his tail and stays still, very still. Coquito will stand in a certain position and sometimes even will help putting on his legs inside it. That car seat is the best investment we’ve made for them. I am going to try to get new pictures of them, as soon as I can bathe Coquito (after his post-surgery check up).

Well my dear Phyllis, that is all for now. I’ll be writing you and be sending you more pictures of my babies.

Blessings for you, Joe and ALL your babies.

Mireya

Dear Phyllis:

Russo and Murphy are just great but inseparable. Also although they are half brothers their temperments could not be more different. I take them to a groomer every two weeks and she confirms what we knew from home. Murphy is the lover and is happy just to be held. When she finishes grooming or one of us come into the room, Murphy is up on his hind legs with his front paws raised in the air to be picked up. I think if we would just sit and hold him all day he would not get up except to eat and go to the potty. Russo, on the other hand, is our alpha dog. He takes care of the other three dogs here and all of those at the groomers. The groomers are always laughing about how Russo runs from dog to dog to be certain they are all right and then takes off down the hall 90 miles an hour to see what else is going on
in his world. He drops by every 1/2 hour for a kiss but once you pick him up and kiss him, he is off again. They are so funny to watch.

But I have learned that I cannot take one out of the house and leave the other. I took Russo for a tooth problem and left Murphy at home. He was barking frantically when I left even though the two older dogs were here and was still barking when I returned an hour later. I asked Tommy to watch Russo the other night, and took Murphy up to the mailbox with me- I was gone at most 5 minutes. Tommy said Russo had gone crazy- barking and running from room to room until Murphy returned.

Should everyone have two babies- I can't imagine how anyone could deny the companionship they provide for each other. It certainly does not take any love away from us- I think some days I am being loved to death. However, I would not advise five although I am sure you would disagree. I just don't know how you do it.

DONNA

The people that got the two boys below got a puppy Kieffer from the same breeding that we now have and an older puppy. Yesterday they sent me lots of pictures of both of them and they want a third puppy. The older one has adjusted well and is no longer timid.
Phyllis

Hi Phyllis,
The boys are well. Kieffer is the sweetest dog much sweeter than we could imagine. Everyone loves him and would like to take him home. We tell them where they can find one if they are truly interested but Kieffer stays with us. He is so much like a baby. He is very cuddly and loves to snuggle. Casper is doing well also and while he is still a little more timid than Kieffer or Murphy, he is playing more and more all of the time. He loves to play with balls and toys more than the others. He loves to cuddle also but he is happy to sleep anywhere on the bed where Kieffer has to be close to one of us. Kieffer doesn't get up until he is ready and usually he sleeps until Donna gets up staying curled up right close to her. He sometimes sticks his head under the covers and sometimes sleeps on one of the pillows. He loves to play with us and Murphy. Casper plays also but more with us than Kieffer or Murphy. We have some small beds that they can curl up in when they are in the living room with us which they like, but if we are sitting then they are on our laps. It is hard to explain the love that we have developed for these guys but they are more than we ever imagined they could be. They are always happy to see us, and we always miss them if we are out and hurry back home to see them. We fixed the back porch so that they can go outside but not get too far away from us or the house they love the fresh air. We also have the pool area fenced in and let them out when we can watch them. They always love to play. We have to take a picture soon though so you can see them.

I hope you and Joe are doing well.

When I was 21 years old I bought my first Maltese with the money I had made from my first job after college. I had wanted a Maltese for a long time and this was a priority for me. Needless to say Brittany was my child. I don’t know that I can express in words how much I loved her. She lived for 15 years and 7 months. When she passed away last summer I knew I had to have another Maltese. There was no other breed that I would even consider. I called every Maltese breeder on the AMA list and came across Phyllis Burnette’s name. As I talked with her it became apparent how much she cared for her Maltese. I also believe that she is one of the most genuine, caring people I have ever met. I was impressed by the lengths she went through to make sure her dogs went to wonderful homes.

The main reason I fell in love with Ga-Li Maltese was their beautiful faces and coats. After getting to know Joe and Phyllis I knew I only wanted one of their Maltese, so much so that I was willing to wait a year for the perfect little girl to be born. However while I was waiting I fell in love with her dogs so much that I decided to get a male to be a companion to the little girl. So we got our little Buffett (yes as in Jimmy). He is so precious and perfect in every way. He surpassed all of my expectations, which is saying a lot. Phyllis jokingly says that I am worse than a show person. I was spoiled before by having a beautiful Maltese and I could not settle for anything less. Not only is he beautiful but he has the most perfect personality. He is so cuddly and loves to give kisses.

We had him for 4 months when we finally got our little girl, Bella, who is equally as precious and beautiful. I am so glad that I got two because they have so much fun playing together. It is entertaining just watching them. They have brought such joy back into our lives and filled an empty space in our hearts. We feel that we have not only gained these two precious babies but also a family with Phyllis and Joe. It is comforting to have the constant support and guidance from them. My husband and I just love them so much and are glad they are in our lives. We also thank them for blessing us with two of their puppies. We feel like we have such a treasure in these Maltese.

Sincerely,

Amy & Chip Carroll
