When I was 21 years old I bought my first Maltese with the money I had made from my first job after college. I had wanted a Maltese for a long time and this was a priority for me. Needless to say Brittany was my child. I don’t know that I can express in words how much I loved her. She lived for 15 years and 7 months. When she passed away last summer I knew I had to have another Maltese. There was no other breed that I would even consider. I called every Maltese breeder on the AMA list and came across Phyllis Burnette’s name. As I talked with her it became apparent how much she cared for her Maltese. I also believe that she is one of the most genuine, caring people I have ever met. I was impressed by the lengths she went through to make sure her dogs went to wonderful homes.

The main reason I fell in love with Ga-Li Maltese was their beautiful faces and coats. After getting to know Joe and Phyllis I knew I only wanted one of their Maltese, so much so that I was willing to wait a year for the perfect little girl to be born. However while I was waiting I fell in love with her dogs so much that I decided to get a male to be a companion to the little girl. So we got our little Buffett (yes as in Jimmy). He is so precious and perfect in every way. He surpassed all of my expectations, which is saying a lot. Phyllis jokingly says that I am worse than a show person. I was spoiled before by having a beautiful Maltese and I could not settle for anything less. Not only is he beautiful but he has the most perfect personality. He is so cuddly and loves to give kisses.

We had him for 4 months when we finally got our little girl, Bella, who is equally as precious and beautiful. I am so glad that I got two because they have so much fun playing together. It is entertaining just watching them. They have brought such joy back into our lives and filled an empty space in our hearts. We feel that we have not only gained these two precious babies but also a family with Phyllis and Joe. It is comforting to have the constant support and guidance from them. My husband and I just love them so much and are glad they are in our lives. We also thank them for blessing us with two of their puppies. We feel like we have such a treasure in these Maltese.

Sincerely,

Amy & Chip Carroll

We
purchased a beautiful maltese from Phyllis  and Joe at Ga-LI.Her name is  Monet. We took her to  our vet for her one year check-up this week. Our   vet said he had never seen such beautiful teeth and  her coat of  hair was magnificient. He could tell  she was well cared for for her  first six months by Phyllis and Joe. She was so still and well behaved when you brushed her or had to fix anything on her.  We are so  proud of Monet. She is so smart and has learned to sit ,stay and fetch her  playtoys and  brings them to you. We highly recommend to anyone  who  is looking for a beautiful well cared for  maltese to call Ga-Li Maltese!

We had a  maltese and her name was Bi Bi. We had  her for 3 years and GOD took her  to be with him.Bi  Bi, I thought she was one in 10 millon. We found  Phylis and Joe. We got a puppy from them and her  name is Brandy Wine.I  was wrong in thinking that it  only happens once in 10 millon. Brandy  Wine is also one in 10 millon. She is my our little girl and we  LOVE HER  very much.We thank God for letting us find  Phyllis and Joe. If not we  would not have found our  Brandy Wine. We think they have the best of the   best. People always ask . What will the puppy look  like ,when it  get older. You have a 98% chance that their puppies will be some of the best  and the most  loving that you could find. They have a very GOOD   breed of maltese. When our Maltese Ivory passed away(only my second dog ever, first one Gidget still doing very well; Yorkie) my husband suggested that a puppy might help ease the pain of our loss.  We both felt very lost without her.  A Maltese has a presence that can move us to tears and mass hysteria in an instant.  From my first two dogs i learned valuable lessons on puppy "adoption".  I could not exchange money with anyone whom I did not feel had the adult dogs best interest at heart.  I needed to feel that the adults were pets as much as show dogs or more pets.  I needed to feel comfortable with the level of concern and care I saw for all the dogs.  I wanted to feel comfortable with the individual as well.  We called many breeders using the list from the American Maltese Association website and each breeder would also mention a few others.  None gave me a warm feeling.  None really questioned me about how we would care for the dog.  We meet one other breeder and the main discussion was price.  For us, the price was the last item on the list.  We had a close idea of how much reputable show breeders were charging and that was not what we wanted to talk about.  We wanted to be quizzed, we wanted to quiz, we wanted to meet the parents, see the living quarters of the puppies.  One breeder that I found through the Internet recommended Phyllis and Joe.  I had not called them because at the time only their Alabama address was on the AMA list.  I had called breeders just about everywhere else.  This breeder said, I warn you, she has great puppies but it is like pulling teeth.  She was right.  But I knew that we would pass the test, we are great doggie parents and adore our little fur-babies.  They have made both my husband and I so happy.  I feel a sense of relief when I hear them sleeping, as if it were meant to be.  They are so healthy and solid.  They are well-adjusted little kids having been raised by such great people for the first part of their life.  We are lucky beyond words to have TWO Ga-Li babies.  The vet comments each time she sees them that they are solid.  A fellow Maltese fan that we know thinks they have the most beautiful faces she has ever seen. Everyone adores them.  I know in Phyllis we have a lifetime friend, not just a breeder.  She really does love the dogs.  The combination is perfect.

We are very  proud to tell anyone where our  babies came from. Our first was Syn which  I  campaigned myself and made her an AKC Champion and  also an  International Champion titled in Germany.  Syn is a new Mom free whelping  3 babies on 10-29-04  just past midnight. Leonardo, owned by you and I, is an AKC Champion and proud daddy of Eastwood who  is currently  being campaigned by Luke Ehricht and  only needs one major to become a  Champion.  Hopefully, he will finish this weekend. My hat is  off to  you for being a conscientious and ethical  breeder.

Anyone  interested in adopting a quality Maltese  has found the right place.  Ga-Li has wonderful  champions as well as an occasional pet. Since   Phyllis and Joe treat each new puppy the same as  they would a new  human, you can be assured that you  have adopted the very best. I have  visited in  Phyllis' and Joe's home and have seen the love they   give to each individual dog. They raise them underfoot, not out back in  kennels. My Maltese,  Ga-Li's Splendor's Mozart (Mozart) is a wonderful,   loveable baby (even though he is now 4 years old) and he has been the  source of much joy in my life.  When we took him back to visit with  Phyllis and  Joe, they still loved him as much as they did when  we  were finally able to leave their home with him  the first time. They are  totally concerned about  the happiness and well-being of each of the dogs   they adopt out. They want to be assured that the  dog will be loved  and properly cared for in their  new home. Thus, you can expect to have  to give  references to

I was delighted  - after driving from North Carolina to Jacksonville, Florida – to find the most adorable little Maltese puppy I have ever seen.  Oliver (little Ollie) is too precious for words.  The most special time with Oliver is when I’m brushing his gorgeous coat. The Burnettes at Ga-Li taught him gentleness and that’s exactly what he shows as I’m placing a bow in his hair.  He looks up at me like I’m the “best thing since sliced bread”.
Thanks Ga-Li for showing such love to Little Ollie and such respect for the breed.  Oliver has adjusted very quickly to his new home. We’ve seen no evidence otherwise although I know he must miss Phyllis and Joe.  Many thanks for all of the hard work and expense that goes into raising such wonderful dogs.  The Ga-Li’s reputation is impeccable!  They have been wonderful throughout the entire process of purchasing and adjusting to a new member of the family. Phyllis is willing to spend as much time as it takes helping you with your new puppy.  I highly recommend Ga-Li!!
My family laughs at all the bows, etc. that I’ve purchased for my little “boy”!  My other three boys - my two teenage sons and husband – are also in love with Oliver.  As a matter of fact, it’s hard for anyone that comes in contact with him not to be instantly drawn to his sweet face and wonderful temperament.

Dear Phyllis:

Russo and Murphy are just great but inseparable.   Also although they are half brothers their temperments could not be more  different.  I take them to a groomer every two weeks and she confirms  what we knew from home.  Murphy is the lover and is happy just to be  held.  When she finishes grooming or one of us come into the room, Murphy  is up on his hind legs with his front paws raised in the air to be picked up.   I think if we would just sit and hold him all day he would not get up  except to eat and go to the potty.  Russo, on the other hand, is our  alpha dog.  He takes care of the other three dogs here and all of those  at the groomers.  The groomers are always laughing about how Russo runs  from dog to dog to be certain they are all right and then takes off down the  hall 90 miles an hour to see what else is going on
in his world.    He drops by every 1/2 hour for a kiss but once you pick him up and  kiss him, he is off again.  They are so funny to watch.

But  I have learned that I cannot take one out of the house and leave the other.   I took Russo for a tooth problem and left Murphy at home.  He was  barking frantically when I left even though the two older dogs were here and  was still barking when I returned an hour later.  I asked Tommy to watch  Russo the other night, and took Murphy up to the mailbox with me- I was gone  at most 5 minutes.  Tommy said Russo had gone crazy- barking and running  from room to room until Murphy returned.

Should everyone have two babies- I  can't imagine how anyone could deny the companionship they provide for each  other.  It certainly does not take any love away from us- I think some  days I am being loved to death.   However, I would not advise four  although I am sure you would disagree.  I just don't know how you do  it.

We lost  our beautiful "Rocky" who we had for 13  years. We didn't want to come  home because our home  was so empty. I got online after a few months and   found Phyllis's Maltese website and fell in love  with her puppies.  We drove from our summer cottage  in Canada to Birmingham to meet the  puppies. At  first, we felt guilty looking for a new puppy but   realized this new puppy was not replacing Rocky but  would fill our  home with happiness again. We feel so  blessed that Phyliss let us have  one of her  precious puppies. We've now had "Beni" for 6 months  and  he is JUST WONDERFUL. He's not only the cutiest  but the most loving  Maltese anyone could ever wish  for. He makes us laugh, and cry "when he  got his  first puppy cut". He's playful, and energetic, and  the  most perfect puppy. We are just crazy about  him. Anyone considering a  Maltese would be very  blessed to have one of Phyliss's babies. E-MAIL me   if you have any questions or doubts about this   breed.

To  all, we lost our Priss on April 14, 2003. I immediately knew that I had to  replace a void in our home. Our daughter DeLaney is and will be an only child  and I wanted her to experience caring and love for a dog. I started using all  of the resources I knew to find not only a reputable but loving breeder. My  requirements were for one puppy and female was a must. All of my leads lead me  to Phyllis and Joe Burnette. She was a hard one to convience that I was  capable of loving one of her babies. It took me around 2 months and many phone  calls just to get her to consider me. I work for a Government Agency that  requires clearances. Phyllis's interview was more intense (humor). Then she  wanted me to think about a mate to go with the little girl and I was like no  way! Then my eyes met his! I knew I had to try it. Well, it's been 3 weeks,  and we have went through so many phases. All to the good! I was partial to  little girls but didn't know how much the boy's are "moma's boy's". He has  become t

Now with the little dogs that we have I am blessed again.  They are the sweetest little guys, they are always here for us.  Keeper and Baby have been great for us.  I am so happy that we now have Pocket, he is so sweet.  He prances all over the house, he plays with the others great.  He is such a happy little fellow just like Keeper.  Baby is the old man of the bunch and likes to sleep more than the others, but he is only 3 years and 8 months.  We are so glad that we met Phyllis and Joe because not only are they very nice people they have the best little dogs.

Pocket is the best! We would never want to bring him back but we will be happy to send pictures and tell all about his adventures.  He is playing well with the others.  He has been sitting with both of us and we cannot hold him enough.  He is a heart stealer.  He prances everywhere he goes even when he walks slow.  He can turn quicker than any dog, we have anyway.  He has the softest hair of any of them.  I am so glad we have him thank you so much.  He slept in a bed with baby last night.  The beds rotate between the dogs and the one cat depending on who gets there first.  We are going to get more beds so they all can curl up.  They love sleeping in between Donna and I but close to Donna because she does not move much during the night.

All four of ours get along fine.  Murphy we got here in Georgia first, then Keeper and Baby we got from Phyllis and Joe, then we went back for Pocket.  They are all doing well and they all play and love each other.  Right now they are all laying on a fleece blanket and Keeper is teasing Murphy trying to get him to play.  Sometimes I don't know where they get the energy.  The neat thing is that all four of them are on a 2x3 piece of blanket.

There is not a lot about the babies they are doing fine as usual.  We do use angel's eyes to stop the tear staining and it has done a good job for us.  Baby sure has come out of his shell and is an angel.  He pretty much acts like the rest for the most part.  Just the other day I watched as he got this little ball and was picking it up with his mouth and throwing it across the floor, then he chased after it to catch it.  He loves to be held and he loves Donna.  He lets me pick him up too but he comes over to Donna's chair, I have to go and get him.  He is funny because Pocket is the first to wake up and we bring him in to the den where they stay during the day, and Baby gets up and moves up on the pillows where Pocket normally sleeps.  He likes to sleep late whenever we do.  Keeper does too.  Murphy and Pocket are early risers and want to come out to play.  They are lots of fun to watch.
Casper has been sleeping with Donna's Mom since she had surgery and Kieffer is doing great.  Everyone loves Kieffer he is always hit with anyone who visits.  He always sleeps close to me or Donna and always in the center.  He is the sweetest little baby.  We love him a lot.

Casper is very happy and gets 24 by 7 attention.  He is helping donna's Mom recover from cancer.  He is the sweetest little baby as well.  He likes to play with his ball and does not let the other dogs mistreat him.  He is the smallest but he is the boss

FROM THE DESK OF DARWIN AND EINSTEIN:

Greetings!

We are Darwin and Einstein...and we got so bored with our day jobs as
research scientists a couple of weeks ago that we begged our strange
two-legged servants, Ernest and Charmaine, to take us to a place
where we could rest our brains. (All they ever do anyhow is feed us,
clean up our wee pads and put our hair up in ponytails anyhow...it's
about time they did something useful!)

So we ended up going to Georgia, which is kind of like Florida except
a lot less buggy. Our favorite part of going on holiday was taking
long walks in the parks around the hotel. We also ordered room
service, and a man in a uniform named Butler came and delivered us a
medium rare steak on a cart draped in white linens. We told Ernest
and Charmaine that they could really learn a lesson in service from
Butler. It was fun except that eventually we got really tired of
admirers of our scientific work coming to pat us on the heads. We
told Charmaine to pack our sunglasses so that we could walk around
Georgia incognito, but does she ever listen? She just has no concept
of what it feels like to be constantly hounded by fans and the
paparazzi!

So now we are back home studying the mysteries of the universe
again. We will let you know as soon as we make any progress, but in
the meantime thought that you would enjoy these photos from our
holiday...

How do I begin to  describe owning not one, but two, Gali babies? Heavenly! I am the proud owner  of Gali's Handiman Special and Gali's Little Lord Sebastian. They bring so  much joy with their distinct personalities. Handiman entered his first show in  November of 99. He took Reserve! I was thrilled. Sebastian weighs 4 pounds and  thinks he is a doberman - yet, he will lie back in your arms like a baby. I  adore them both. Handy loves to give kisses. They are a wonderful addition to  our
