Ga-Li Maltese started in 1989 with
the purchase of our foundation bitch, Ch.Ga-Li's Fancy Free
of Whitt. We intended to purchase just one little Maltese as a pet. During our search for the best Maltese, we went to many states and didn't see the little dogs of the quality for which we were looking. All puppies are cute, but by then we knew what the maltese should be.
So we started going to dog shows and finally found the dog that we knew was top quality and the one for us. We showed her and made her a champion. People tried to buy her, but we would not sell her for any amount of money! We bred her only twice, but found that we could not her puppies go. So, we continued to keep puppies and show them. We became addicted to the Maltese breed. We are empty nesters and we adore these little dogs.
Our kennel name, pronounced Gay-Lee, is named
after our children, Gary and Lisa. Ga-Li has produced ten AKC
champions including an International Champion. Most of our
females that we breed are champions, and we have
bred to top champions in the country. We breed to studs that compliment the breeding.
We have spent years and thousands of dollars choosing the dogs that have become our breeding foundation. We spend time studying the pedigrees of the dogs that we use for breeding, and guard against breeding dogs that have genetic problems. When we are expecting puppies, we stay awake with our little females 24/7 for several days before they are due and several days and nights after the puppies arrive. I have spent more time studying the Maltese that I did to become a teacher. We started our line by breeding to well
known champions from Windsong, Marcris, and Crisandra. We are quite proud of the established line that we have produced: Ga-Li Maltese
. We
are breeding primarily for healthy show dogs with good
temperaments. Our Maltese are loved pets first and show
dogs second. All of our puppies are raised in
our home and are handled and played with from birth. We train our puppies to use the potty pad and we also have a large deck and patio in which they can play. Our
Maltese in "show coat" require special care to grow their
lovely coats. None of our dogs live in a kennel. We always have our dogs cuddling up with us when we sleep. We breed on a limited basis. Quality is much
more important than quantity. We do sometimes have puppies for sale. We are not backyard breeders.
We do not
sell puppies for breeding, nor do we sell to puppy mills or
pet stores. All pet puppies that we place are spayed/neutered or placed on a limited registration spay/neuter contract. We feel that these little dogs get lonely so we want them to have a companion with them most of the time. Maltese are fragile little dogs and we don't feel that they should be in a home with small children as they can easily be hurt unintenionally. I am a member of the American Maltese
Association. We like to get to know prospective buyers
before we sell a puppy. Therefore, we ask that you please call us if you are interested in a puppy. We are happy to answer any questions that you mght have.
Because of our huge investment in our Maltese, we cannot sell them as inexpensively as puppy mills or backyard breeders . We are investing in the quality and health of our puppies. Our puppies will grow up to be the size and quality that you expect when your see Maltese in books or in dog shows. I stand behind any puppy that I have and guarantee the health. We are always available and happy to talk to anyone that has one of our puppies
We have been letting our show quality pupies go as pets as we want them to have a forever home. If we have older puppies available, it is because we are trying to decide which one to show and they are potential show quality. We are having to cut down on our puppies because we have kept our older ones. We are not showing as often since we have been traveling between our homes in Alabama and Florida. But it is still such a challenge to do a breeding and see how much we can improve on the breed. We sometimes have puppies available to approved homes.
We have improved our breeding through our years of experience and our puppies are now better than our champions. We breed only two or three times a year. Our puppies have had their dew claws removed, vaccines, and a complete vet check upbefore they leave our home. Our dogs have never been left in a kennel. We bought a motor home just to be able to take them with us everywhere that we go..
Showing and breeding these little white angels is a challenging experience. Striving to produce the very best is our goal. If you don't get a top quality healthy puppy, you will probably pay for lack of quality in vet bills and emotional heartbreak in the future years.
We feel that we are responsible for the little souls that we have brought into this world. We do all that we can to make certain that they will always be well taken care for, loved, and happy. They give happiness and unconditional love and they deserve the same from their owners.
